Up to date
Okay....I think I am finally caught up with the photos from this weekend and earlier this week. I've even gone back and added text. I swear, if I wait to post, I end up with a hundred pictures to go through. If only the boys weren't so photogenic!
Sitting in the big chair with my Da
This is SO FRUSTRATING!
In order to get Allan motivated to stretch and reach, we have been setting up the blocks (which he loves to knock over) to the left, right and center, but just out of reach. Little guys with breathing issues don't like to constrict their lungs by bending over or twisting very far.
This works very well with Allan, but he does get irritated from time-to-time.
Of course, we have to do a lot of this after Griff is in bed because he will butt in to knock over the blocks or move them in to the other room. Away from Allan, in other words.

Crapping out
maybe it is the awful weather here, but I keep having problems with photos. going to stop even trying tonight.
We are all great and fine and good. It is warm and snuggly here and we hope for a good night's sleep. Griff fought a valiant battle with his Da last night, but gave it up pretty easily tonight. Allan went straight to sleep last night, but fussed (probably from the vaccines) until Mom finally got him in bed at about 4. He was fine after that, but Griff was up at 5 (peed out) and Dad took him downstairs. How in the name of God any one does this alone is beyond me.
The boys are all down now and I am not long to follow.

Monday and Tuesday
The guys had their 18 month appointments on Monday. Allan has stalled on his weight gain (we are trying to balance growth with creating a desire to eat. Apparently we weren't that successful. Allan is 19 pounds and 28 inches tall. This places him firmly in the third percentile (he is as big and heavy as 3 percent of babies his chronological age.)
Griff is 24 pounds and 31 inches. He is in the 25th percentile in both those categories. I can't remember his head circumference, but he is apparently in the 75th percentile on his head size. Just call him Charlie Brown.
Big Al had a modified barium swallow today to check and make sure that there isn't something organically wrong with the swallowing mechanism. He just really still is having problems swallowing when we feed him. Apparently there is nothing wrong with the way that Allan chews or swallows. All he lacks is coordination and motivation.

All narrartive, no photos
Something is up with the blogspot site and I kept getting shut down when I try to upload photos. We'll go with straight narrative.
We had a big weekend. Godparents Billy and Becky came over Friday night and hung out through bath time. They thought they had better check things out to make sure that Viv and Stella will have fun at Prom. Some day.
Saturday we got up bright and early to get ready for KK's visit. Before she hit town, though, Miranda came and the boys headed out for a walk. To be honest, Griffith was a bit of a handful and I didn't want KK's first impression after so long be of a whinging baby. That's no way to encourage the people I like to reproduce. Jay and KK and I headed out for the races and had a wonderful time. The weather was PERFECT. Only KK cashed a ticket, though. Jay and I were apparently tithing to the gods of racing. We headed back home in time to see most of the football game. The boys did the best that they could do, but weren't able to pull it out in the end.
KK got to help out with bath time. Then we sent Jay upstairs with Griffith and opened up a bottle (maybe two) of red wine. I thought we were going to have to pry Big Al from KK's arms. He really is the best snuggler and fresh from a bath he is nearly irresistable. Big Al will give you Baby Fever, no question. Fortunately, Griffith can provide you with the antidote. (He really doesn't ever stop.) The most telling moment may be when Griff was swatting the blocks across the room. We aren't talking about nudging. We are talking about swatting. Hard. I don't want to be sexist, but boys are pretty much destructive and Griffith is a prime example. Funny thing is that Allan does the Exact.Same. Thing. Just on a smaller scale.
Sunday morning we got up and made pancakes and scrambled eggs for KK (we have that for breakfast every morning, right?). After a great deal more snuggling and playing (KK brought the cutest Tonka board books. Griff would bring one over and sit in KK's lap and she would start to read it and he would flip many pages over, close the book, entirely and decide that THAT book is over. The. End. Until he got it again.) Which is when the baby fever began to abate.
Anyhoodle, KK headed out in her cool, single-girl, sports coupe and Mom and the boys headed out for a run while Dad when shopping. As usual, Allan fell asleep immediately. Griffith waited about 20-25 minutes in. He had been such a little monster that I didn't dare stop. We ended up running for over an hour just because Mom didn't want to deal with an unrested Griff.
Momma headed out for some alone time while Dad got every one ready to watch England v. South Africa with the boys. The less said about THAT the better. It was a disappointing weekend all around, sportswise.
Heather came over for dinner Sunday night and flirting with a pretty girl made the rugby loss a bit more tolerable. But not much.
