4th Recap

It was a big, fun Fourth of July.
Mom and Dad got up and ran the 10K. Michele came over to watch the boys. Allan decided to sleep in, but Griff was fired up and ready to go when she got there at 7 (a mark of true friendship considering that the early a.m. is not the time of day Michele likes best)and pretty much stayed that way until Mom and Dad got home about 10. Allan finally roused up about 9:30. He and Michele are a little more alike in that way than she and Griff are. Everyone got cleaned up and we went to brunch at Jim and Montell's. Allan was stuck in low-gear all morning and spent most of the visit asleep. Griff, except for a brief catnap, was in his element. He's pretty sure that everyone wants to see, hear and play with him. He spent a fair amount of time charming Candy who is young, pretty and busty. After flirting with her for a while, he went in for the kill and buried his face in her cleavage. That's our boy, Mr. Subtle.
After plates full of sausage, eggs and biscuits and a mimosa (or two), we all headed back home. At which point, Mom and Dad started the game of chance called Which Baby Do You Want? Dad took one look at Griffith who was wild-eyed and bucking and kicking around and announced that he (Griff) wasn't going to go to sleep any time soon and so he (Jay) would take Allan and they would snuggle on the couch and take a nap. Fine. Not very gallant, but, fine. And, usually, Allan is the surer bet. He can pretty much be counted on to chill out, snuggle and take a nap - regardless of the day of the week or time of day. Daddy chose poorly yesterday, though. Although it took Mom 30 minutes of wrestling, feeding, patting, bouncing and soothing, the Griffster fell in to a deep slumber and slept for 2.5 hours. Which allowed Mom to get a full hour's nap in her own right. Allan, on the other hand, wriggled, chatted and refused to go to sleep. Finally Dad got up and put him in the stroller to go buy ice. At which point, too late for Dad to get a nap, Allan fell sound asleep. That's Mommy's angel.
We had a few folks over to grill out and managed to have a good time even though we had to move inside because of rain. Allan, being well-rested, sat up in the middle of the floor and kept chiming in to the conversation. Griffith kept up his usual antics. All-in-all a successful outing for the Team.

Flora strolling

It was only in the mid-60's so she made sure that the boys were wrapped up. She would have put them in their fleece jackets, but Mom has put them away (it is July, after all) and couldn't find them.

Okay, it is getting pretty late and it is time for me to head for bed. The boys had a great time this afternoon in the pool. It is hard to tell from the photos, but Griffith splashes until he nearly drowns himself, Allan and Mom and Dad. Allan spends all of his time trying to stretch out and kick his brother. We just hope that they have worn themselves out to the point that they sleep all night.
